Tim Watson: Solving the Mystery of the Billboards

From Springdale to Newport have you been seeing Billboards of Tim Watson all over Arkansas?

Curious about the personality behind the mysterious billboards?

Well, here are the answers to all your queries.

Tim Watson is a resident of Newport and an attorney practicing there as well.

He is a member of the Law Offices of Watson and Watson, based in Fayetteville and Newport.

His father, Tim Watson Sr., opened the firm in 1988.

Early Life

Born and raised in Newport, Arkansas, Tim was an energetic child with varied interests.

From a doctor to an actor, he considered all professions.

But despite growing up watching his father work as a lawyer, Tim had no intentions of becoming a lawyer.

As a teenager, he was a member of his High school’s drama club, played tennis, and was part of a band.

At sixteen, though, he started experiencing unusual bouts of fatigue.

At first, the doctors thought he had mono but after further testing; they found the real reason: His failing kidneys.

The official diagnosis was focal segmental glomerulosclerosis or FSGS.

Following the diagnosis, he received a kidney transplant from his mother Betsy in the summer of 1997.

Regaining health, Tim attended Washington and Lee in Virginia then transferred to Rhodes College in Memphis to complete his bachelor’s degree.

As a backup plan, he took the LSATs and then graduated with a law degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

After college Tim moved to Austin where he worked in real estate for a few years.

Then he indulged in his love for travel and spent six months in Europe while teaching English in London.

His next destination was New York City where he lived for a year before moving to Texas when he realized his calling for Law.

In Texas, he spent a visiting third year at the University of Texas in Austin.

Eventually, he moved back to Newport, Arkansas to practice at his father’s law firm.

Getting into Law

Over the years, Tim had worked for his father on multiple cases.

One particular case stuck close to his heart.

The client was a farmer who owned a small farm that was surrounded by a much larger property.

The owner of the bigger farm wanted to take over the small farm, but the Watson worked hard to help the smaller farmer keep his property.

He could see the impact he could make and adopted small-town law as his profession.
